Investigation of Error Distribution in the Back-Calculation of Breakage Function Model Parameters via Nonlinear Programming

Despite its effectiveness in determining breakage function parameters (BFPs) for quantifying characteristics mineral grinding processes, the back-calculation method has limitations owing to uncertainty regarding distribution of error function. In this work, using Korean uranium and molybdenum ores, we show that limitation can be overcome by searching over a wide range initial values based on conjugate gradient method. We also visualized sum squares two-dimensional parameter space. The results showed was strictly convex, main problem functions flat surface objective rather than occurrence local minima. Based our results, inferred could significantly mitigated values. Back-calculation yields BFPs similar those obtained from single-sized-feed tests (SSFBTs) up four-dimensional spaces. Therefore, values, feasibility approach improved with minimum number SSFBTs.
